Honoring the Journey – The Carnegie Hall Encore Concert – DVD + Audio CD
On February 19, 2012, singers from around the country performed Jacqueline Hairston’s trademark arrangements of Negro Spirituals on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York City. Honoring the Journey – The Carnegie Hall Encore Concert features Jacqueline Hairston with those singers who were from the Inner Light Choir and the Greater San Francisco Bay Area in concert at the Henry J. Mello Center for the Performing Arts in Watsonville, CA. The concert honors the growth, transformation and healing that singing these songs, and preparing to perform on the world-renowned stage of Carnegie Hall, required of each them.

Negro Spirituals are liberation music that express a wisdom that is transcendent of culture. Through this music, people who are diverse in age, ethnicity, gender, and religion can...

  • Celebrate the message of freedom, resilience and hope that is a distinct characteristic of the Spirituals,
  • Consciously participate in healing and bridging the racial divide that still exists in our country, and
  • Honor the legacy of finding joy in the midst of tribulation.

The music from our concert is featured on this audio CD.

This DVD includes Honoring the Journey – New York Film by Pam Paraison of NPPA Productions – a short film featuring rehearsals and interviews during the Carnegie Hall concert preparation in New York City. It also features footage from the entire Carnegie Hall Encore Concert.
